Ashton's First Deer
Well, its been a while since I have updated. I need to try and get Mickey to take over the blog. Ashton and I had a great hunt. He was able to hunt out on some incredible private land bordered by the CWMU, that he is tied into, through his dad's family. We saw quite a few bucks during the hunt. The second night of the hunt, we were able to take Jens, Devan and Tanner with us as well.
We bumped into Cousin Brad Harris after leaving the truck. As we were shooting the bull for a few minutes, we had two bucks start fighting on the edge of the cedars. Ashton was the first to spot them. I ranged them at 168 yards. Ashton waited for them to split up and held right on the top of the back of the one standing broadside. The rest is history. He double lunged the buck and he went only 20 yards.
I am real proud of Ashton. It was great to have some of the boys best buds with us as well.

Conference Weekend
Well, I didn't catch any General Conference, but sure enough, It was conference weekend. Terry, Travis, Brad (Travis' little bro) came down for some horn hunting. We had a few good hikes and picked up a couple horns. We got sidetracked a couple of times looking for arrowheads, and checking out some ruins. All and all it was a great time. Even found a lion track a little late in the day, and didn't have my phone to call in the troops. It would have really topped off the day, to have put another deer and elk poacher to death.
Kendall's Third Birthday
A ton of photos. Kendall had a great day. It is fun to see the baby getting all grown up. I would say Tate must be the more spoiled one, because his rhino is faster than Kendall's Huffy.
Camping the Last Weekend in March
It was a good outing. We rode motorcycles, and had a good time in general. The kids seemed to have a blast.

Spring Finds
I have been hunting horns a little the last couple of weeks. I was watching a big bull, but I think someone else grabbed his horns before I could find them. I was a little bummed. I have picked up a few deer horns, but nothing to get me excited enough to get the camera out.
Punk and I went out to check on some bulls Saturday morning. We looked around a little, but didn't find any horns. They are still packing for the most part. We did find a pretty good Tom track. Instead of heading to town for Deen's dogs, we called Lyle, because I knew his boy has a kill tag. Lyle and Chai loaded up the dogs and headed out to meet us. The dogs couldn't pick up the track very well, as it was made Friday afternoon/night. Punk is a pretty good tracker, and kept on the track. After about three hours of losing and re-finding the track, Punk yelled up to me on the ledge above that he found the track in some snow on the north side of a ledge and thought the dogs could take it.
He was right, the dogs heard him yell, and came over. As soon as they hit the track the chase was on. Surprisingly, it only took one or two minutes, and the lion was pinned in a crack between a big rock and the ledge. Chai was able to get in and put some lead in the cat as we pulled the last hound off of the cat. Lyles dogs did real well to catch this cat on what was mostly a dry ground run. It was a great way to spend the day. After packing the cat out to the road, Chai noticed some drag marks crossing the road. We got to looking around, and found that he had just killed a cow elk that morning. No wonder it was a quick chase, he was so full that he didn't feel like a big run.

January Bulls
Several bulls from lately. I think the cold weather messed me up a bit, as the flash wasn't working. I had a few pitch black pics. Oh, well. I went out to look for lion tracks this morning, but didn't find any. I saw a few good bucks, in a new area. I went back tonight, and found some others. Didn't take any pics. Maybe someday, I can get a little more into looking for deer shed antlers. It is hard when the elk horns are so much bigger.

January Fun
The kids have been enjoying the snow quite a bit this winter. We just got back from a City Engineer's Conference in St. George. The kids spent as much time in the pool as possible. They love this pool, because they can swim back and forth from the inside to the outside. It was a good trip. Here are a few pics of the kids.

Checked the Trail Cam
Christmas Break
Here are a few photos with captions from over the holidays.
We had a great time with family and friends throughout the whole holiday season. We got to see Grandpa a couple times. The boys went to a baseball camp with several MLB players on the staff. They thought that it was great. Kendall had a sleep-over or two with her Aunt Kali. All in all, it was awesome.
